This is a story from one of our very first cohorts of students. Two years ago, both Y and C were studying at a community college in California. Truth be told, when they initially joined my research initiative, neither felt particularly confident about where their future was headed.
Throughout their research training, beyond guiding them to build a structured analytical mindset and systematic methodology, I made a conscious effort to share insights from my own academic and research journeys across different stages. Over time, a remarkable shift took place. They became steadily more self assured, developing a clear and resolute sense of direction.
In 2025, Y secured admission offers from multiple top University of California campuses, including UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Irvine, and UC San Diego. He ultimately chose to major in Data Science at UCLA.
In 2026, C earned his admission offer to UCLA for Mechanical Engineering. He reflected on how deeply biomechanics and mechanical engineering intersect, noting that this research experience served as a concrete catalyst for his successful application.
Witnessing our students evolve and bring their ambitions to fruition is unequivocally the most fulfilling aspect of my work.
I will continue to highlight more student stories in upcoming posts. Anyone interested in learning more is always welcome to connect with us.
